In August 2013 at the age of 55, I was diagnosed with Dementia (Progressive Degenerative Impairment), believed to be Early Onset Alzheimer’s and FTD. I share my thoughts, challenges and emotions in hope that this will help others who are part of this Dementia Daze.

Through the challenges of progressing dementia, God has provided many tools to help me through the journey. My husband Roy walks beside me providing constant support. My family is a source of continuous strength; Sister, Brothers, Cousins and Aunt Joyce – – I don’t know how I would make it without you all! And then there are my virtual friends – Wow! In the FaceBook chats Care Givers, Care Providers and PWD post to provide support and tips. On the Virtual Memory Cafe video chat we learn, laugh, cry and support each other face to face (sorta’).

In this blog, dementiadaze.com, I have shared links for many of my friends who are walking the same road, as well as links to dementia-related sites that have helped me and links to songs about the pain of PWD (Persons With Dementia) and their Caregivers.

You will also find a series of videos on Sign Language for Dementia. I strongly believe that if PWD in the early stages and their Care Giver learn and apply basic Sign Language in their daily lives it will help them as their symptoms progress.
